This maybe should be in the slot forum since it is a slot.
I saw this slot Gambler 21. It is a 3 wheel slot and ever so often (TBD) you get to play a bonus round. The bonus round is like 21. You get 2 cards and can take more, the object being not to go over 21. There are incremental payoffs for 12-21. A meter amount for AK and 5 card charlie amount and a 777 amount. It appears that cards are replaced when dealt and suits do not matter, thus it should play like an infinite deck.
I haven't taken statistics since the 60's and I am very rusty.
If you were to track the cards dealt. What would you track? How would you determine if it is really a random selection from an infinite deck? What number of cards would it take for you to be relatively convinced?
Thanks for any consideration.

I would start by looking at the glass or the help screens. I would assume that the cards are randomly dealt from a fair deck, because this is required in most jurisdictions.

Obviously if you saw the same card on the same hand, you know you are dealing with multiple decks. But the difference between, say 8 decks, and an infinite deck, would be almost impossible to ascertain based on observing one hand at a time.

Thanks for the responses. I had pushed all the buttons on the machine trying to find a help screen with no success. A playing strategy can be determined once you have a clue on the number of decks. I doubt that an infinite deck and an 8 deck strategy would differ very much. I assume it has a random card selector.
I had looked at the Wizard's method of determining the number of decks for online games based on suited pairs. I don't really care about suited pairs except 77 starts. The most important card would be the Ace, since it is instrumental for AK, natural 21s and 5 card charlie's (I don't know what % has an Ace in it, but it is probably significant) . The 3 highest paying things other than 777.
The real problem is it is a slot machine. Who knows how many spins you would have to do to get enough bonus rounds to determine the number of decks.
Playing a slot for an extended period of time can be detrimental to your financial health.

Signs of slot machine addiction

When gambling on a slot machine, the bond between the gambler and the machine becomes personal, no one to interfere with their gambling and no one to compete against. The player feels a fondness for a particular machine and some players even get irritated if they see someone else playing their machine. If the slot player is playing longer than he planned, spending more money than he can afford, and telling lies about how much he wins or loses, perhaps he has a problem. If s/he is concerned about his behavior while gambling and even during periods when the person is away from the casino, perhaps s/he may have a slot machine addiction. Other signs of slot machine addiction include:

Slot machines are designed to be addictive

Slot machines are also known as VLTs (video lottery terminals) or pokies. The machines are designed with three or more reels that spin when a button is pushed or a handle pulled. The machines have different themes containing graphics and music from popular movies or TV show. The sounds, colors, and images on slot machines have been designed by psychologists to seduce the player and the music reinforces the addictive behavior.

Dopamine, adrenaline and slot machines

The rapid response from the machine has a hypnotic effect and stirs up the dopamine in our brains. And the speed of slot machine games keeps the gamblers’ adrenaline pumping. Even if the gambler does not win, the machine makes him feel that he almost did. And for the gambler that can be just as great a feeling as winning the jackpot. In fact, the person can sit there for hours just pushing buttons and zoning out because the games require no thought or skill. Many slot players have commented, “I just couldn’t get up and walk away.”

Slot machines are the crack cocaine of gambling

21 Gambler Slot Machine

Slot machines are powerful revenue-generating forces designed to keep the player spending more money. The innocence of the slot machine attracts the gambler as he walks through the casino but the slot machine addiction has been described as the crack cocaine of gambling. The money that people gamble on slot machines typically isn’t important and is treated like Monopoly money. Even when the person loses, they believe they will win back all the money they lost to the machine. To compound the losing of money, several ATM machines are located in the gambling area.
